About Us
Welcome to the official website of Okinawa ShorinRyuShorinKan Karate-Do Federation of India (OSKFI). Passionately following the traditions and practices handed over by its legendry masters in Okinawa, Japan, OSKFIis currently the World’s Largest ShorinRyuShorinKan Branch and India’s largest Martial Arts Organization.
OSKFI had its modest start to the voyage with just 14 students at the Bannerghatta National Park, Bangalore. Currently training over 35000 students annually, the federation is regarded as the benchmark of martial arts training in the country. The association caters to more than 200 branches in South Bangalore alone and with over 500 affiliated branches across the country. The federation is also associated with several international schools in and around the city. We also regularly conduct women’s self-defence training programs in several IT companies across India; training over 200 thousand IT professionals.
Led by Shihan Suresh Kenichira, the president and a forerunner in the field of martial arts in India, the OSK Federation of India has been a learning space for authentic Okinawan karate as well as sports karate. The federation also explores other martial arts like Kobudo, Kalaripayatu and many more. As a result of the federation’s initiative, today most schools conduct compulsory Karate and self-defence classes for their students.
The students of OSKFI have participated in various state, national and international tournaments and won over 8500 medals and prizes and more than 90 overall championships at state and national levels. Federation’s strength lies in the family-like relationship that exists between the students and teachers. Not to mention, the rigorous training and a disciplined way of life that all the students undergo. Above all, it is the exemplary teaching methods of Shihan Suresh Kenichira that has been manifested in each and every one of his students.
OSKFI trains its students in Karate not just as a self-defence skill, but also as a ‘Way of Life. This has helped the students in maintaining discipline, developing self-control and good etiquette in their day-to-day activities, making them good and responsible human beings.
