An innovator in the field of martial arts from India

Shihan Suresh Kenichira (President of OSK Federation of India) instituted his career in Karate, a form of Martial Art, at the age of 9. His desire to gain knowledge by achieving the zenith of skills, along with several years of rigorous training and fortitude, has led him to the deified and most experienced personality in the field of Karate in India and abroad.

 

In the year 1992he was invited to train the Bannerghatta National Park Defence Force by the Forest Department, where he started this association with just 14 students. Since then, Shihan Suresh has single-handedly built one of the largest martial arts organizations in India.

 

Contemporaneously, Shihan Suresh Kenichira holds the 6th Degree Black Belt from the World Head Quarters-Okinawa, Japan as well as the 6th Degree Black Belt from the World Karate Federation. In addition to this, he also holds the 5th Degree Black Belt in Kobudo, a Japanese weaponry art. Heis also a judge under the Asian Karate Federation and the General Secretary of the National body for Okinawan affiliated karate schools in India (Okinawan Karate-Do & Kobudo Federation of India).

 

In 2009, he participated in the ‘Senior World Karate Championship, Okinawa’ organised by the Okinawan Government and as a referee in the ‘Kids World Karate Championship, Okinawa’ held in 2010. Since 2014, he has represented India and participated in the ‘Okinawan Traditional Karate & Kobudo World Seminar’ organised by the Okinawan Prefecture Government. He has also represented India as a judge in the Italy World Karate Championship, International Karate Championships in Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates. At the latest, in 2018, he had participated as a Judge at the ‘Asia Pacific Karate Federation Championship’ held in Jakarta-Indonesia.

 

Shihan Suresh Kenichirawasone of the six overseas Referees and one among the three Referees from India and not to mention, the only one from Karnataka to officiate at the World Karate Championship-2018held in Japan along with the ‘Official Referee recognition’ by the Okinawan Governor. To sum up everything, for the epitome of a person he has grown up to be, Shihan Suresh Kenichira was awarded the ‘Best Teacher of the Year’– 2014& 2018 by Rotary Club, Bangalore South.

 

For the first time in the history of Karnataka, Shihan Suresh Kenichira, with over 1500 students, showcased a karate demonstration during the Kannada Rajyothsava Celebrations in 2011 held at Sri Kanteerava Stadium, organised by the Government of Karnataka, Department of Public Instructions.

 

To add on to all the laurels, he has been known for his social service all around the country. Shihan Suresh recurrently conducts free self-defence workshops for women and gives them the confidence to feel empowered. He has trained over 2 lakh women of several leading IT and MNC companies. In 2017, as a part of the ‘International Women’s Day celebration’, he was invited to train the women staff of the BMTC. At the present, he trains the ‘Women Police Force’ at KGF, Kolar district. He also sponsored and organised the 2017 Karnataka State Karate Championship for students of Government schools. Not to forget, he has also been sponsoring the Bangalore District Karate selections of the School Games Federation of India for over 15 years now.


Shihan Suresh Kenichira has not only been a great mentor but also a nurturer who shows the way of life to all his students and has proved it time and again as to how much it takes to be a great human being. Now, the federation proudly celebrates its 30 glorious years, training and guiding their entire fraternity in Traditional Karate-Do with the pulchritude of art.
